PPD Names Elena Logan Senior Vice President of Global Central Labs

WILMINGTON, N.C., (December 2, 2010) - PPD, Inc. (Nasdaq: PPDI) today announced it has appointed Elena Logan as senior vice president of global central labs. In this role, Ms. Logan will provide strategic direction for the company's state-of-the-art global central laboratory operations, which are strategically located across three continents.

"Elena Logan brings strong leadership and operational expertise to PPD gained through her 24-year tenure in the pharmaceutical and contract research industries," said Lee Babiss, Ph.D., executive vice president of global laboratory services at PPD. "Her track record of prior success will benefit PPD in advancing its strategy to deliver superior global central laboratory services for our clients."

Ms. Logan most recently served as divisional vice president at ACM Global Central Laboratory, where she led sales and operations and was a member of the executive management committee. During her six-year tenure, she played a pivotal role in formulating the company's strategic global direction and business strategy through periods of sustained growth and in establishing strategic partnerships and marketing strategy.

Prior to joining ACM Global Central Laboratory, Ms. Logan held senior business development positions with Premier Research and another large contract research organization. She was also a development scientist in quality assurance and senior clinical scientist in the cardiovascular program at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she spent the first 12 years of her career.

Ms. Logan earned her master's of business administration in pharmaceutical marketing from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pa., and her bachelor of science in chemistry from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y.
