Top large company honorees were chosen by Forbes from an independent survey sample of U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 5,000 people in their U.S. operations. Respondents were asked to rate, on a scale of zero to 10, how likely they would be to recommend their employers to others.

The Forbes list ranks the 500 large employers that received the most recommendations. The survey also included midsize companies employing at least 1,000 people in their U.S. operations. In total, almost 30,000 Americans working in the U.S. participated in the survey.
