Niklas Morton serves as senior vice president of site and patient access for PPD. In this role, he oversees the site intelligence and activation, strategic feasibility, strategic site collaboration and clinical innovation teams. Under Morton’s leadership, these teams identify and activate the best investigative sites in the shortest possible time to provide access for more patients to fully participate in clinical research.
Since joining PPD in 1998 as a biostatistics manager, Morton has advanced through roles of increasing leadership and responsibility within both the biometrics and project management organizations. He spent nearly five years in PPD’s project management department, where he had section-head responsibility for PPD’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) hematology/oncology group.
More recently, as senior vice president of global biostatistics, programming and medical writing, he worked with business development and client management activities in full-service and functional service partnership (FSP) environments while leading more than 800 professionals engaged in the design, analysis and reporting of clinical trial data.
Morton led PPD’s cross-functional initiative to develop and implement data standards in the acquisition, aggregation and analysis of clinical trial data, resulting in the launch of Preclarus®, a comprehensive clinical data solution that consolidates and standardizes data from multiple sources.
Morton earned a master’s degree in medical statistics from the University of Leicester and a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the University of Glasgow, both in the U.K.
