As global head of strategic proposal development at PPD, Cindy Markham is responsible for driving transformation and customized solutions to all client segments. Markham has more than 20 years of leadership experience that covers both private and public-sector firms, where she has led the global expansion of Phase II-IV business. She has helped to achieve substantial sales growth in the organization, earning multiple awards and recognition for sales performance, while also working cross-functionally to ensure operational excellence and key financial performance.
Markham previously served as global head of commercial strategy at PPD, where she was responsible for developing custom business and operational strategies across the entire portfolio of services to deliver a strong value proposition for the organization’s biopharma partners. Markham had leadership responsibility for establishing the selling strategy for PPD-SNBL, the company’s joint venture in Japan, and for building a new infrastructure to optimize selling for corporate partnerships.
Before joining PPD in 2003, Markham held several business development roles and served in clinical operations and project management for another contract research organization. Earlier in her career, she taught project management courses at the University of Santa Cruz and was a research coordinator for the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
Markham earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and a Master of Public Health in nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
