I learned about PPD and applied for a senior clinical research associate (CRA) role. My interview with the clinical manager from PPD happened in a very relaxed and positive atmosphere, and my decision to join the company was very clear. I started with PPD in 2002.
After fulfilling my role as a senior CRA, I became a clinical team manager for several years. From there, I transitioned into the site and patient access department as a startup manager, then as a country manager role.
As a country manager, I now oversee and support the Belgium startup team, while still learning many new things each day. I have always been happy at PPD, and am grateful for the different possible options and opportunities to develop my career.
The growth opportunities with PPD have always come at the right moment for me, and each time I was supported by my line manager. That’s why I have never felt the need to search elsewhere for career development or another job.
The three most important qualities that have proven to be most useful in my career at PPD are:
working effectively in a team, showing initiative and effective time management. Teamwork has been a constant factor during my entire career and being “One PPD.” Having initiative has been important when dealing with unexpected issues and delays and trying to find quick and alternative solutions. Time management has been very important to effectively prioritize, avoid distractions and meet deadlines.
PPD offers a dynamic learning environment where I continue to grow, evolve and improve my skills — I am certainly never bored! Working as a team toward challenging deadlines, and then succeeding at the end, is motivating and feels like a victory each time.
