Phase I Research Clinic Volunteer Recruitment

Phase I Clinic

PPD's recruitment professionals use targeted and integrated communications, including newspaper, radio and direct mail, to attract volunteers for specific studies at the U.S. clinic.

Phase I Clinic Volunteer Recruitment

Trained recruiters screen and pre-qualify volunteers to match the study protocols. Recruitment is supported by a large proprietary volunteer database that contains information on healthy subjects as well as subjects with specific medical conditions and those who represent selected special populations. PPD's database provides our recruiters with the most current information on study subjects, including previous study experience and volunteer compliance.

Special Volunteer Populations

In addition to targeted advertising and the volunteer database, PPD works with physician networks and patient support groups to contact potential volunteers for studies that require subjects with specific indications, including volunteers with HIV, postmenopausal women and people over 65.

Volunteer Screening and Qualification Procedures

Pre-qualified volunteers receive a detailed explanation of the study requirements and known potential risks. Volunteers' questions are answered and they are asked to sign an informed consent form. After meticulous review of a subject's medical history, a thorough physical exam and diagnostic tests required by the study protocol are administered to volunteers to assess qualification for the study.
