Preclinical Evaluation Services

Piedmont Research Center (PRC), a division of PPD, is dedicated to preclinical research and evaluation of anticancer agents and therapies. By maintaining a broad range of National Cancer Institute recommended tumor models in house, as well as select models, and conducting the research in our own AAALAC-accredited facility, clients receive high quality laboratory testing services to develop therapies quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

Our preclinical team works with clients to choose the most appropriate study design and screening method for an investigational agent. Depending on client needs, tumor growth delay, tumor growth inhibition combination or adjuvant design approaches may be used. Studies can be designed to:

• Identify leads
• Optimize dose schedules
• Identify optimal combination strategies
• Optimize clinical trial strategies
• Evaluate drug resistance/sensitivity patterns

Once the study is complete, a final report is written by our scientists and presented in a format easily adaptable for submission to most scientific journals and IND applications. Reports include methods, results, discussion, tables, graphs, raw data and statistical analyses.
