Project Management

Under the project management umbrella, PPD offers the following Phase II-IIIb services:

Project Management: Leadership, Communication, Results
Whether managing a single service scope of work or a full-service global program, PPD project managers are experienced team leaders focused on providing on-time, on-cost quality deliverables. From the outset of each project, your project manager develops a strong relationship with you based on clearly-defined expectations and objectives.

Your project manager:

  • Provides leadership and direction, including identifying and assembling training opportunities, to build a top-notch project team
  • Serves as a primary resource and point of communication for the project team
  • Applies PPD's global capabilities, systems and processes to assure efficiency and accuracy throughout the project
  • Creates a management framework to enable clinical personnel to focus on individual tasks for greater quality and efficiency
  • Implements a global risk management process to address potential obstacles strategically
  • Maintains a flexible, can-do approach to address issues innovatively and proactively

Project Management Tools
PPD project managers track performance against contractual milestones beginning at initiation. Key action items include:

  • Initial hand-off meeting to establish a communications plan, define resources requirements, determine project metrics and initiate a master action plan
  • Weekly project team meetings to review the project status, verify resourcing and update action items
  • Regularly scheduled global risk management planning meetings to review cost, quality and timeline performance metrics

Project status reporting is conducted via PPD DirectConnect™, a secure, Web-based study information portal for timely, efficient management and optimal communications for your clinical studies. Utilizing highly-secure technology, PPD DirectConnect provides access to up-to-date status information at any time.

Project managers also utilize a tool providing a central, standard snapshot of each project for the early identification of current and most significant risks. The software:

  • Tracks risks to key deliverables from the client perspective
  • Provides a single source to track proactive contingency plans and the impact of these plans
  • Records the history of risk management strategies
  • Documents action items through the entire project
