PPD uses its expertise in project management to meet client requirements in an efficient and timely manner, as evidenced by the completion of projects from our clients requesting aid with vaccine trials. In the past year, PPD completed five large vaccine trials for children and adults: Four on menigicoccal vaccine and one on pertussis. Each study consisted of 2,000 to 4,500 subjects, and PPD completed enrollment for the studies approximately two months earlier than contracted.
A particular adult study was contracted to complete enrollment in four months, but PPD actually completed enrollment in five weeks; while an adolescent study, contracted to complete enrollment in six months, required only three months to complete.
In addition, PPD is currently managing two multi-component pediatric vaccine trials, with both trials using a Web-based electronic data capture (EDC) system. Though these studies each involve 2,000 to 3,000 subjects, PPD proficiency in this area will ensure timely completion of the work.
