Drug Information Residency Program

Learn and apply diverse drug information skills and principles in a variety of practice settings through PPD’s unique one-year specialty residency program. Qualified candidates must be graduates of an accredited Pharm.D. degree program or hold a B.S. in pharmacy with relevant work experience. The residency program is located near North Carolina’s renowned Research Triangle Park. The program is for U.S. residents.

With an emphasis on written communication, the residency program provides experience in developing clear, concise documents that are both scientifically accurate and fully compliant with regulatory requirements.

The resident learns the principles of effective analysis and communication of drug information and receives practice applying them in the most utilized formats:

  • Standard responses, communicating vital medical information to busy health care professionals
  • Formulary dossiers, presenting the latest research on a client’s product
  • Patient educational materials, including newsletters and brochures
  • Posters, providing detailed medical and technical research data in a visually interesting format

Through an affiliation with a local pharmacy school, the resident:

  • Trains second-year pharmacy students in practical applications of classroom learning in a laboratory setting
  • Completes a rotation at the drug information center of a large metropolitan research hospital
  • Acts as a preceptor for fourth-year pharmacy students
  • Presents an internally developed project at a designated national drug information conference

Stipend and Benefits

The Drug Information Residency Program offers a stipend along with a generous benefit package, including health and dental insurance, life insurance and optional programs, such as a 401 (k) plan, an employee stock purchase plan and flexible spending accounts to cover medical and dependent care expenses. PPD also provides the resident with paid time off and company holidays as well as expenses to attend one to two professional meetings.
