Dr. Henrietta Ukwu, PPD’s senior vice president for global regulatory affairs, was named to the 2011 PharmaVOICE 100 list of the most inspiring people in the life sciences industry. The honor from PharmaVOICE magazine recognizes Dr. Ukwu’s contributions in providing innovative leadership in the area of regulatory affairs in the endeavor of delivering life-changing medicines for people in need. An internist and infectious disease physician, Dr. Ukwu has extensive global regulatory experience across many biopharmaceutical therapeutic platforms and geographic regions.
PPD and ProtonMedia won a Microsoft 2011 Life Sciences Innovation Award for the deployment of PPD® 3D, a virtual collaboration technology designed to improve the cost-effectiveness, speed and quality of clinical trial training. PPD collaborated with ProtonMedia to develop PPD 3D by integrating ProtonMedia's ProtoSphere, a virtual collaboration environment, with PPD® Adaptive Solutions, an innovative suite of data, technology and performance solutions. The award was announced at the Drug Information Association's 47th annual meeting.

According to The CenterWatch Monthly, PPD earned the number one spot by focusing on the needs of sites, which include supplying technology and support, providing clear protocols and timelines, and concentrating on strong training programs for clinical research associates.
