Belgian Employees ‘Think Pink’
From pink desserts to pink lip balms to pink bandanas, employees in PPD's Belgium locations went all out for a local campaign to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
More than 120 employees and their families registered for TeamPPD, participating in the Think Pink – Antwerp Race for a Cure run/walk in September. PPD donated more than any other team at the event, and was called on stage for recognition by the Think Pink organizers.
In the weeks leading to the event, employees bought pink gadgets and desserts, and participated in other activities to help raise money for the cause. The organizing team set-up a Think Pink corner in the break room that featured tips for running a first race and information about breast cancer and the campaign.
Breast cancer has touched so many lives, and Race for the Cure is the biggest event worldwide in the fight against this disease. PPD has worked on many breast cancer studies in the past five years, and has provided expertise to approved oncology drugs in that time.
"As you know, improving health is the mission of PPD, and finding a cure for cancer is very close to my heart," said Els Pluymers, executive director for PPD® Laboratories. "Two years ago, I lost my husband to pancreatic cancer, and I was deeply moved by the support I received from my PPD family. We wanted to show similar support to the women and families of someone with breast cancer, so it was heartwarming to see how all colleagues in Belgium, their family and friends came together to support and raise awareness at the Think Pink event."
